Last Friday the 13th of February we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Tony Linde from Leicester Print Workshop in England. Tony is currently on a road trip along the east coast of Australia visiting printmaking workshops along the way and contacted the NPW a few days before his visit. He is retracing a previous trip he made many years ago but this time is making printmaking studios a focus, beginning in Brisbane through to Adelaide, where he was born. Tony spoke at length about the Leicester Print Workshop and how they are run with financial support from the British Arts Council. They have approximately 200 members and hold a number of print exchanges and workshops throughout the year. Tony left us a few brochures which are currently at the workshop for people to look at. If you would like to read Tony’s blog about his travels go to: http://blog.tonylinde.com/2015/02/17/newcastle-printmakers-workshop/.:
Twenty four Newcastle printmakers are spending time in the vineyards of the Hunter Valley region to find inspirational material to create prints with. The vineyards who have agreed to have artists wander through their vines are Wollombi Wines, Undercliff Winery, Margan Estate, Macquariedale Winery, Stonehurst Wines and Peppertree Vineyard. The exhibition of these works will be shown at the Cessnock Regional Gallery from 30th April to 31st May and is titled “Picked and Pressed”. Here are some photographs of where the printmakers have been with more to come.
